Fast Forward NDT-200 Portable Composite / S-Video Recorder - Single Channel
|
Ideal for a wide variety of applications, the NDT-200 is engineered for high-quality video recording in remote locations. This portable digital video recorder (DVR) was designed to meet the unique needs of freelance producers, outside broadcasters, video assist operators, surveillance and security organisations, video analysts, emergency ''first response'' teams, and law enforcement, government, and military agencies.
Intended to function as a drop-in replacement for tape-based recording devices such as the Sony GVD200, the NDT-200 will fit effortlessly into the position that your Video Walkman once occupied. With the NDT-200, video recordings are instantly accessible and downloadable, with discrete access to every single frame.
The NDT-200 combines an intuitive touch pad and soft-button user interface with large push-button controls that make operations instinctive even for new users. All functions can be controlled from the unit or an external PC. Video clips will be recorded in QuickTime; for playback on PC or Mac or as FFV secure video files. Users can then download the recorded video clips to PC or Mac via the on-board USB 2.0 (Type B) port or by removing the hard drive (SATA) and inserting it into a suitably equipped PC or Mac.
- Ultra-small unit saves space and weight in remote applications
- Designed for a broad range of applications
- Provides convenient access to recorded information with a removable hard drive
- Simplifies operations with an intuitive user interface
Note:
A 320GB, 2.5 inch SATA, 5400 RPM Hard Drive is included with the NDT-200. The maximum hard drive capacity is 500GB
Fast Forward recommends Super Talent and RiData solid state drives. Please note that you should avoid less expensive solid state drives that use “MLC” (multi level cell) flash because these drives are higher density and less reliable than drives built with SLC flash. SLC drives are generally military spec and are a better choice when the data is recording critical events and / or the recorder will be subject to environmental extremes. |

M-JPEG Compression
The M-JPEG compression ratio setting on all Fast Forward Video products are user selectable from 4:1 to
20:1. In practice, it is advisable to set the compression to correspond with the best quality to storage
ratio. A setting of 7:1 is a good setting for general purpose Betacam images, 10:1 for S-VHS, 15:1 for
VHS. The rule of thumb for minutes of storage generally available is compression ratio is roughly
equivalent to minutes per gigabyte. For example: 10:1 compression ratio x 80 gigabytes = 10 x 80 =
roughly 800 minutes recording time, or approximately 12 hours.
